GWADAR: The fourth meeting of the academic council of Turbat University, chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Razaq Sabir, was held here at its city campus on Saturday. Besides Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch, the meeting was attended by senior faculty members, university officers and sectional heads.

Various matters relating to new rules and regulations of semester system, admission policy for various departments, admission criteria and procedure for the MPhil and PhD programme, academic calendar for this year, plagiarism policy, Mulla Fazil Chair and other educational and research strategies were discussed.

Dr Sabir expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the university during the past three years, saying it was capable of being enlisted among the country’s prominent universities within the next few years in the Higher Education Commission’s ranking.

He said the UoT was set to move forward academically, administratively and institutionally and had achieved a number of targets in education and research.

The university administration would not make compromises over imparting quality education and promoting research activities and would make every possible effort in this regard, he added.

Dr Baloch and other senior faculty members stressed the need to expedite the efforts for hiring more qualified professors and scholars. They also presented their suggestions about various academic matters.
