GWADAR: University of Turbat’s (UoT) first convocation will be held this year, said the varsity’s vice chancellor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir. He added that all graduates will be given laptops along with their degrees.

Dr Sabir made the announcement on Friday during an event organised by senior students to welcome the freshmen. According to Dr Sabir, the Gwadar campus of the university would be set up soon and would offer students a wider variety of subjects.

He said students were valuable assets for an educational institution and added that the faculty and administrative staff were dedicated and passionate about the university.

“Following the philosophy of tradition, innovation and excellence is our responsibility,” he said. “We will devote our energy for the development of quality education at the university and prosperity of the region.”

Despite facing many odds and challenges, said Dr Sabir, “we are committed to extend every possible facility, including arranging lectures of nationally and internationally reputed professors via video link”.

The vice chancellor congratulated the students on organising a successful event. The university’s registrar also spoke at the event.

As a part of their welcome programme, the seniors put on performances on the themes of cheating in exams, corruption and narcotics.
