GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Speaker Fida Mohammad Nashad on Saturday complained to the federal government that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) decision to reduce its fares on domestic and major international flights had not been implemented on the national carrier’s flights between Islamabad and GB.

The speaker demanded implementation of the decision, according to a letter he wrote to the Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif.

In the letter the speaker regretted that PIA flights fares in the region remained unchanged, as a result the passengers, especially patients, students and poor families suffered a lot.

He said no private airline had been given permission to operate flights between Islamabad and GB.

The letter said the Karakoram Highway and the Skardu-Gilgit road were in bad condition.

He demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to order reduction in PIA fares.
