KARACHI: Renowned playwright Fatima Surayya Bajia died at her home here on Wednesday after a long illness. She was 85.

Bajia, famed for her immensely popular drama serials on Pakistan Television, suffered a paralysis attack 20 months ago. Her relatives, friends and admirers said her characteristic will-power had enabled her to keep death at bay for almost two years after the attack.

Family members said she was at her home in Mohammad Ali Society when she breathed her last.

Funeral will be held after Zuhar prayers on Thursday at 38D, Miran Mohammad Shah Road, Mohammad Ali Society, and she will be buried in the Gizri graveyard, DHA Phase 4.
