Tabla maestro Baley Khan dies

THATTA: Noted percussionist (tabla nawaz) Iqbal aka Ustad Baley Khan who performed with the country’s top singers including Madam Noor Jehan, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and Abida Parveen died in his thatched hut next to the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ashabi on Tuesday morning at the age of 67.

Hailing from Faisalabad, Baley Khan had moved to Makli about 20 years ago and stayed near the shrine for the spiritual treatment of his wife who was suffering from paralysis.
