LAHORE: The Punjab University (PU) has started compiling its oral history, an official told Dawn.

The varsity official told Dawn retired teachers of the university would be invited to speak on its history.

“Oral history of the varsity will also be recorded on video through (lectures by) old teachers,” he said.

The first ceremony in this regard would be held on Wednesday (today) at the university Al-Raazi Hall. Prof Emeritus Dr Khwaja Muhammad Zakariya will share his memories.

Meanwhile, the Hailey College of Commerce is observing Anti-Corruption Week till Dec 11 to raise awareness among students. Seminars, lecturers and quiz competitions are being held.

An awareness walk will be held on the collge premises on Thursday in which teachers, students and employees will participate.

College Principal Prof Hassan Mobeen Alam said steps should be taken to eradicate corruption. He said due to corruption national institutions had been destroyed. He advised student to work with honesty.

The PU’s Department of Gender Studies in collaboration with Ministry of Human Rights is organising a seminar on ‘Aurton Per Tashadud Ke Khilaf Hum Aawaz’ in connection with 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence and Human Rights Day on Wednesday (today).

GCU: An international conference on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will begin on Wednesday (today) at the Government College University.

Some 50 eminent academicians and policymakers from the US, China and Europe are scheduled to participate in the two-day conference.

It will explore economic, political, strategic, cultural and social dimensions of the multibillion-dollar project.
