Pakistan lose but Afridi rises in T20 rankings

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has made some valuable gains in the latest ICC T20 Player Rankings, following his side’s 3-0 series defeat to England, which concluded in Sharjah on Monday night.
The prolific 35-year-old all-rounder, who became the highest wicket-taker in T20 history during the series (with 88 wickets in 87 matches to date), has climbed up one place to second in the all-rounder rankings and is 32 points behind Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.
Afridi also climbed three places to sixth in the ICC T20I Bowler Rankings after claiming five wickets for 77 runs in the series and is the highest-ranked bowler on either side at the end of the series. Other bowlers to make notable career-high gains were the Pakistan duo of Shoaib Malik (up eight places to 60th) and Anwar Ali (up 35 to 66th), while England pair Chris Jordan (up 13 to 95th) and Adil Rashid (up 50 to 98th) have both broken into the top 100 for the first time.
In an unchanged top 10, Alex Hales remains the highest-ranked batsman in third place, while England captain Eoin Morgan has maintained his eighth-place ranking after guiding his team to victory. Pakistan's highest-ranked batsmen are Ahmed Shehzad (16th) and Umar Akmal (18th), who have both dropped two points apiece.
Jos Buttler has climbed two places to 45th while James Vince, who was named the Man of the Series after scores of 41, 38 and 46 in what was the 24-year-old’s debut T20 series, is a new entry in 51st position, two places and four points clear of his team-mate Joe Root, who himself has climbed six places to a career-high 53rd. Shoaib Malik has climbed seven places to 58th, but the highest mover overall is Sam Billings who has rocketed 151 places to 95th. —ICC

Worse of Afridi is his nepotism and preferences on basis of ethnicity. He should never lead Pakistan. He and many others like him do not care what happens to Pakistani cricket or reputation, as long as they can serve people on the basis of like/dislike, above merit.
Proof: Rafatullah Mohmand is 40 years old, still played all 3 T-20s. Throughout his career, his record was never good to be in team. I believe he played just because he is from Peshawar. Mohammed Rizwan from Peshawar, is good player and should be in team as batsman, but so is Sarfraz (as batsman). Unfortunately, Afridi shuns Sarfraz for Rizwan as wicket keeper is sheer nepotism. Umar Akmal's behavior make him unfit for team, but got included in team because of friendship with Afridi. Afridi has his own players and would like them to play, regardless of Pakistani need or interest.
As long as nepotism, corruption and ethnic preferences does not disappears from Pakistan, Pakistan would never progress.

set up from selectors to players are responsible for the
outcome. To blame one player is not right.

Keep it up Afridi. Pakistanis will remember you when you retire the way they are remembering Misbah. The current pakistani batting line up doesn't have a single batsmen that can stand for 10 overs in ODI and not a single bastman can hit the ball the way afridi does in T20. Our batsmen couldn't score 10 runs in 1 over when Afridi got out and we lost the match. I am sure when afridi retires from T20 then pakistani bowlers will be smashed for 200 runs in their batsmen will get themselves out in less then 100. No one is perfect. Misbah and afridi both have flaws but they are still better then the rest.

we should respect afridi ...everyone is not performing in his captaincy ...every time pakistan chasing their top order not performing and then left the whole game to afridi in the end and almost 15 runs in an over....we saw that in the last two t20s against england....if he will not try to hit big shots then what he can do?he tried his best and bring the game in pakistan favour...but then the other players didnt perform...

Once Misbah and younis retire from test cricket then we will be at No 8 in test as well. Even with them the chances of pakistan surviving on fast English pitches are remote. Our batsmen fear English pace attack on dead wickets of UAE what they will do in England.

That's the dilemma with Afridi, Misbah, and Younis Khan... They are making their stats better at the expense of the team. They have choked the talent long enough. While they build up their numbers, Pakistan cricket is going down the drain.

I think England should have squared the test series one all. They were incredibly unlucky.
England are really dangerous in limited overs. Real dark horses.
Pakistan sadly aren't very good. Selections are always bizarre. Fitness and hence fielding/running are a joke.

@salman(khan of khyber): When Captain shows nepotism, have favourites, and discriminates on basis of like/dislike, than team does not play as unified force.
Afridi do not care for Pakistan. He loves his nepotism, discrimination and favouritism. When this become obvious, team do not play as unified force, neither play for country.
Result is that team loses more often than win, especially in crucial matches, under performing in demanding situations. Captain also stop trusting players on merit and start trusting players connected to him. We see lots of run-outs, fielding lapses, irresponsible shots and players not-cooperating.
Example: Last T-20 went to super-over. Looking at immediate form, best to bat was Malik with Afridi. But it seems Malik was not in Afridi camp, so Afridi trusted Akmal.
Result: Afridi played 3 balls and scored 0 runs (shows, how unpredictable Afridi is). Akmal played 3 balls and made 1 run. There was 2 Leg byes. Total 3 runs. Thus, England had an easy win.

Afridi supports his buddies Umar Akmal, Sohail Tanveer, Farhatullah, Shoiab Maqsood..... knowing that those buddies were not capable of bringing uplift to the team. Likes /dislikes must be over. Farhatullah was such a disaster. Why Sarfraz was not part of the team. Shoaib Malik was in form and scored well and managed to take wickets. For next match, I recommend Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Hafeez, Sarfaraz, Wahab, Yamin, Yasir Shah, Asad Shafiq, Zulfiqar Babar, Farhat Ali, Imdad Wasim, Sohail Khan in the game. Rest of the players should be selected from domestic cricket. Shoaib Malik did a good job overall. I rate him above Irfan and other team mates.

This doesn't serve purpose. In last 2 matches against England he threw his wicket foolisly. He could easily have won both matches if he had stayed at the wicket. This was quite unbecoming of a captain.
