BAHAWALPUR: Baghdadul Jadid police said the family of deceased Tanveer alias Ranjhoo submitted before the duty magistrate that he committed suicide.

Tanveer, a brother of noted singer Suraiya Khanum, was found dead in his room in Maqbul Colony here on Saturday.

Tanveer’s family approached police and requested them not to conduct a postmortem of the body. Police asked the family to approach the magistrate concerned, who turned down their request.

Police said the cause of death would be determined after they received the post-mortem report.
