KARACHI: Pakistan is committed to meeting emerging challenges of the peacekeeping operations across the world. Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif said this while visiting the Pakistan Army contingent deployed in Ivory Coast under the UN banner.

The COAS said Pakistan was proud of its historic and current role as a major troop contributor to the UN peacekeeping operations and took it as an obligation to participate in international efforts for peace and security.

He paid rich tribute to officers and men for their professionalism, commitment to bringing stability and promoting peace for a secure world under the United Nations, according to ISPR chief’s tweets.

The COAS acknowledged sacrifices of Pakistani troops in peacekeeping operations.

He said that being one of leading troop contributors, Pakistan had deployed its forces to six UN missions, despite the ongoing Operation Zarb-i-Azb and IBOs back home.

The Ivory Coast president praised the excellent performance of Pakistani troops, according to the ISPR.
