Two police officials shot

RAWALPINDI: Two officials of the police Muhafiz Squad were shot dead in the city on Thursday night.

Police said head constable Tanveer Ahmed and constable Mohammad Yasin were patrolling the streets of Ratta Amral on a motorcycle when they were targeted by unidentified gunmen.

Both the officials sustained critical injuries but none of the area people called the police or shifted them to hospital. Later, traffic warden Ali Sher, who was on duty in the area, shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital.

One of the injured died before reaching the hospital while the other succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. Police said they were investigating the incident.
