KARACHI: Lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly secretariat on Tuesday seeking a discussion on the Oct 31 Khairpur incident in which 12 people were killed during the local government elections.

The resolution was signed by the parliamentary party leader of the PML-F, Nand Kumar Golkani, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, Dr Rafique Bhanban and Mehtab Rashdi.

It said that due to the negligence of the Sindh government and failure of the local administration 12 innocent people were killed in Daraza Sharif, Khairpur, during the local government elections.

The lawmakers also gave a notice under Rule 28 of the Rules of Business of the Sindh Assembly to summon the session.

Speaking to reporters after filing the resolution, the PML-F lawmakers held the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership and the Sindh government responsible for the Khairpur tragedy.

They said the election commission had been asked to deploy army troops before the first phase of the LG polls, but it paid no heed towards the PML-F request.
