Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq welcomed the presence of Shane Warne at the team's training session and said the Australian legend could transform legspinner Yasir Shah into a great bowler.

On Thursday, Warne, who is in the UAE on a promotional event, spent 90 minutes with the fast-rising Pakistan spinner who took eight wickets in the second Test against England in Dubai which Pakistan won by 178 runs.

Misbah said Warne would always be welcomed at Pakistan's training sessions.

“We had the legendary Shane Warne come to practice with Yasir in the nets. It was unexpected, but he will always be welcome at our training,” Misbah wrote in his column for cricket.com.au.

“I think Yasir can learn a lot from him. He is already learning plenty from Mushtaq Ahmed and if another great leg spinner joins us, Yasir will surely learn more and it will also increase his confidence.”

Shah in an interview on Thursday said it was a dream come true for him, bowling alongside his childhood idol, Warne.

“It was a childhood wish that I could bowl with him, play with him and I was excited to have him here for me. I am very happy to know the kind of feedback he gave me and that he spoke highly of me,” said Shah of the session.

“He emphasised that Test cricket is played with patience and I don't need to rush and waste energy, I just need to keep myself calm,” he added.
