So sad.Careless driving and dangerous roads are the main reason behind these.

Accidents major contributory factors are lack of driving sense, poor health/eye sight of drivers and bad tire/brake condition.

Traffic accidents are a menace in Pakistan unfortunately not a single official of so many federal & provincial agencies getting huge bribes from transporters has ever been tried or held responsible for these accidents.

Poor roads can't cause accidents as long as drivers drive according to road conditions.Since police does not test the drivers blood for alcohol content, its hard to determine if the driver was Driving Under the Influence (DUI). As you pointed out road accidents are directly proportional to the rate of speed at which the automobile causing the collision is traveling. Increased speed also cuts into the driver's reaction time.Driver distraction such as changing a CD or searching through a purse, or texting on a cell phone are also a significant contributing factor to accidents. Driving Tired between 11p.m to 8 a.m is another factor which contribute to fetal accidents. Lack of Regular Auto maintenance involves keeping tires and brakes and suspension (Tie rods etc ) in good working order. Pakistan need to set up a new vehicle department to test drivers (written/road test) to make they understand the rule of the road before giving out the driver license.Accidents are totally preventable.

Overspeeding and not obeying the traffic rules are many causes in accidents in sub continent.

Need to bring in m.o.t like uk .its a annual vehicle test which checks the vehicle all over from brakes ,lights ,wiper to rust n so forth .as for the drivers ability .... How many have actually passed the driving test. Just one gear forward n reverse ,is not even a test.

I have traveled on national highways in India and have observed many fatal vehicular accidents. I almost got into accident because of the fault of the driver in the other vehicle. Overloading of trucks, cars and trucks with no tail lights, use of shoulder lane to overtake vehicles, of course going over speed, tail gating the behind with full head light on etc are commonly happening on the nationnal highways. No wonder there are everyday fetal accident occuring.
