EVEREST, the 3D Hollywood film brings out the beauty in the mountainous region as well as highlights what can go wrong on a trip that could end in one’s death. The special effects are of top quality and by the end of the flick, you will definitely start loving the mountain range that houses the highest mountain in the world.

The disaster flick is based on Jon Krakauer’s book Into Thin Air and revolves around a group of mountaineers who try their best to ‘tame the beast’ known as Everest. The first half of the film deals with the back story of each mountaineer who reach the top, whereas the second half covers the disaster that divided them into two groups — missing and alive.

The film takes the audience close to the highest mountain in the world and believe me, it’s a sight you will not like to miss. The use of drone cameras, the acting by group of accomplished actors in near-impossible conditions as well as the authentic gadgets used in 1996 makes it a worthwhile experience. Even if you don’t love mountains, this Baltasar Kormákur-flick will surely awaken in you an interest related to mountaineering reaching the top.

The sequence where the mountaineers reach the top is amongst the best in the film; same can be said of the scene where one of the mountaineers nearly falls to his death while crossing a temporary bridge. The portrayal of real-life mountaineers by Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Keira Knightley, Robin Wright, Sam Worthington, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Kelly and others is what keeps the viewers engrossed, whereas the suspense doesn’t let them leave their seats.

The top-notch cinematography is the film’s biggest plus point since it shows the place where the action took place in reality, that is 19 years back. Although disaster and relief efforts are what dominate the last hour, the film gives you thrills and chills all the way.
