KARACHI: The executive committee and general body of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBA) which met separately at the Arambagh court on Friday empowered their president to finalise date, venue and timings for holding the elections within a month.

“The executive committee and the general body have given the task to KBA president Amjad Ali to decide the date for the next elections that has been overdue,” KBA secretary and former international Abdul Nasir said on Saturday.

He said the general body has endorsed the recommendations put forward by the executive committee which among others include adoption of amended revised constitution of the KBA, induction of women as per the guidelines of the Pakistan Olympic Association, Sindh Olympic Association and the Sindh Basketball Association.

The KBA secretary asked the affiliated clubs to pay their annual subscription to become eligible for taking part in the elections. In case of failure, their affiliation will be cancelled, he added.

He added that the KBA now comprised 10 affiliated clubs after three parted ways and joined the rival group.

At the outset, the general body confirmed the minutes of the last meeting besides giving the nod to secretary’s and treasurer’s reports.
