Bismah Maroof starred with the bat once again as Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 34 runs to sweep the two-match T20 series at the Southend Club in Karachi on Thursday.

Pakistan captain Sana Mir opted to bat again on a slow pitch but her side struggled to get out of the blocks early on, and lost opener Javeria Khan in the fifth over with the score at 15. Marina Iqbal then combined with the star performer of the first match, Bismah, to give Pakistan some stability.

The 28-year-old Marina, playing her 40th T20 for Pakistan, was dismissed on 33 off 41 balls, leaving Bismah and Aliya Riaz to push the side to 114 from their 20 overs. Bismah remained not out on 44 from 38 balls with two boundaries.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Akter was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-27-2.

But just like the first game, Pakistan's below par total was enough for the tourists as Salma Khatun's side slumped to 38/5 in their chase. Rumana Ahmed's 27 was the only notable knock in the reply as Bangladesh ended their innings on 80/7.

For Pakistan Sumaiya Siddiqi and Nida Dar picked up two wickets each as Sana Mir's side completed another comfortable win.

Bismah took the player of the match and player of the series awards for her 109 runs and a wicket from the two games.

The two teams will now play two ODIs on October 4 and October 6 also in Karachi.
