ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz on Thursday said United State's defence cooperation with India was enhancing imbalance in South Asia, adding that Pakistan's reservations in this regard have been conveyed to the Unites States, Radio Pakistan reported.
Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan had also conveyed to the United States that conventional and non-conventional imbalance in South Asia should be considered while entering into any sort of defence cooperation with India.
“It is becoming clear that America is preparing India to reduce the influence of China in the region.”
“Pakistan's cooperation with China is development-oriented and India has no business objecting to it. Pakistan is fully capable of safeguarding its interests and sovereignty.”
The adviser on foreign affairs made it clear that whenever dialogue with India resumes, the two countries will discuss all issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
“There can be talks on all issues but no issue would be discussed in isolation on India's demand.”
Aziz said for the first time ever Pakistan has prepared a “formal dossier regarding Indian interference in Pakistan” which would be taken to the United Nations for presentation.
“India accuses non-state actors from Pakistan of meddling in Indian affairs. But Indian state actors are interfering in Pakistan.”
The adviser said Pakistan will highlight the Kashmir issue at the United Nations and other forums, adding that bilateralism envisaged in the Shimla Agreement failed to achieve any progress.
Similarly, he said, Pakistan had conveyed to India it will not entertain Indian objections to meetings with Kashmiri leaders because “Kashmiris are genuine stakeholders in the dispute.”
The adviser said Pakistan would not ask India for any meeting during the prime minister's visit to the United Nations.
“It was New Delhi which cancelled talks between national security advisers of the two countries. So it is on India to initiate the process.”
Responding to points raised by some members, Sataj Aziz said that during the recent meeting between the director generals of Pakistani Rangers and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), the two sides agreed to discuss ceasefire violations on the Working Boundary.
“Now India is resorting to violations on the Line of Control and is using the pretext of infiltration for its cross-LoC firing.”

The failure is more of Pakistan, becoming increasingly less significant in shaping world's political, social and economic environment. It has allowed crusty old world politics to dominate it's internal affairs. It is still considered a primitive, backward looking, problem ridden society with incompetent leaders who ride the coattails of either the US, Saudi family, Gulf Arabs or the Chinese. Hiding under the protection of one power over another will only make you less secure and more unstable. Who would want an unstable country as a partner?

That's the future strategy of US for the region and globally. Incidentally US strategies have produced problems in the world e.g strategy to engage Soviet Union through talibans, it's Iraq policy which has literally undone the ME, it's highly pro leaning policy towards Israel which has only produced resentment among the stake holders. And now with it's new policy, the future can easily be forseen.

I completely agree with you. The defense cooperation between India and USA is a success story of the foreign policy of India. That Pakistan has no such cooperation with USA, is a failure of the foreign Policy of Pakistan. Pakistan has no permanent full time active Foreign Minister.

….This allows them to have leverage in foreign policy decision making and influencing both houses of the government. Pakistani corruption and lack of focus towards education has taken a serious toll on Pakistan internally and overseas. We have had almost very little or no growth in our education sector. While India continued to advance it continued to develop and redevelop its education sector. While it is about hard work it is also about timing.

Didn't we see the US tilt towards India in 1960s? Didn't the US provide India with rocket technology which was used to make missiles? Didn't US offer India weapons when it sold F16 to Pakistan? India had rejected US several times, but after 99 Kargil it's Army realized that they needed US weapons and US was only happy to provide.
US has always seen India as its strategic partner and Pakistan as a tactical necessity.India is to the US is what Pakistan is to China. Only difference is that the US is bigger power at the moment than China, but this may not remain true forever. But the US is desperately trying to keep the things in order.

This goes way deeper. Indra Gandhi said it best in 1971 after creating Bangladesh "Today we have avenged one thousand years of Muslim rule". Indians should remember that under Muslim rule there was no partition and India became a super power with 24% of world GDP under King Aurangzeb. This is also the reason why we are not afraid of people we have ruled in the past. Also, Pakistan has today more military might then ever before compared with 65 and 71.

India has it's version of fundamentalist Hindu regime in power. Since Modi sarkar has taken over official subscription of Hinduvta is the new India. Last year Christmas was sabotaged by Modi, this year he is working on Eid, religious leaders like Priests and Imams have been persecuted for preaching religion officially under India Law. Women are being raped, specially westerners and justified as they have low moral values and the poor hindu youth fall for their trap. Modi broadcasted his official pooja - exit illusion of secular India and enter the real Hindu - Hindustan if this progresses further India will give birth to Hindustan, Khalistan, Nagaland, Islamic Republic of India, and an other 3 or four nations in just a matter of a decade. Because millions of Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Communists will no longer be able to live their lives.

Most Pakistanis either agree with Sartaj Aziz or are complaining.....I think this is the solution:
There is not point in being economically weak and have few skills the world needs. Case and point, war in Yemen and Saudis quickly realizing they need a skilled and very hands on trained Pakistani Army. The army has been engaged with a war on our western border for twenty plus years, that is why they are good. So honest leadership, integrity, hard work and focus does pay off, even for Pakistanis. So they myth that Pakistanis are stupid and wrong in their approach is wrong. We need to fix our economy and educations system. Continuously pick out the scums and get rid of them. Karachi is an obvious example. Let the kids go to school and continue to aggressively reform the education system without disturbing the system. Trust me, our enemies are working on us in every which way.....

Increase the size of the military and make sure our youth have the discipline to wake up early do their salah's , pursue their education and are not misguided. Pakistan will always remain a hurdle for India to match up with China and it is not Pakistan's fault. If India needs to match up with China then they need to have cordial relations with Pakistan. In order for India to have friendly ties with Pakistan they need to resolve core issues with Pakistan. A friendly Pakistan is always in the best interest of India but the Hindu mentality towards us is the biggest hurdle. What Pakistan needs to do is to improve it's economics. A strong economics is the only answer that will force India to resolve the core issues.

India has this illusion that they are the player in the region but the fact is they are not. Russia and China are the players and Pakistan is in the making. If sanctions removed from Iran then Iran will be a player in the region in next ten years.

A purely cosmetic statement. Our army strategic command and control already works closely with China to ensure no regional imbalances or disturbances. US tilt towards india was predicted long ago and is only natural. india has its hegemonic designs and the US wants to keep China in check. When interests converge, countries cooperate. No big deal and nothing new. Pakistan is not in danger as long as we have our celebrated Armed Forces. Cooperation with China has also proven to be invaluable.

How can you expect Pakistan joining India in pursuits of development together, without solving the Issues especially the Long outstanding Kashmir Issue. This aspect must be understood earlier the better, otherwise the status quo will continue. We must learn from the civilised world to talk and only talk on Issues, take the common ground forward and try to bridge the gap on conflicting understandings. When the aspirations of people are met, whatever these are, we will reach the meeting point; some compromises are even expected for the bigger cause, if needed.

Pakistan's foreign policy needs to be revisited. India is becoming part of US group against china and Russia. We are very happy with the US agreement with Iran but it is US another move against china for its long term policy. Pakistan will have not part of this new group. Moreover, the relations with Pakistan of china Pakistan could not be part. The Agreement of US with Iran is to counter CPEC. Keeping in view these realities Pakistan have to review it's foreign policy and increase relations with Russia also beside china. Russia realised this that is now it has a soft corner towards Pakistan.

I agree with Salim.India does not consider Pakistan as a threat.India is concerned about China's hegemonistic attitude and hence the preparedness. India has never attacked any country in its past history of more than 1000 yrs to which Pakistan is also a witness. Rather than making such false statements that is intended for mass consumption, the politicians should focus developing a vibrant outward looking modern country which the people of Pakistan are very much capable of making. Only this lacks is the willingness of people on power, who are preventing it.
