Sources said the CTD police station in Faisalabad had registered a case against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act for speaking against state institutions and praising terrorists.

The sources said that Mr Kifayatullah had criticised Zarb-i-Azb operation and allegedly glorified Malik Ishaq, a leader of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi killed recently in a police encounter, to stir up sectarian hatred. He also raised slogans against the state institutions.
