ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Rawalpindi on Monday awarded 28 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to two persons for smuggling explosive material.

The police arrested Nasib Wahid and Mukhtar Ahmed form Domeli in district Jehlum on March 13, 2015 along with 51-kg explosives.

According to the prosecutor, both the convicts had concealed the explosive in the trunk of a car and were transporting it from Faisalabad to somewhere in Rawalpindi.

During the proceeding of the trial, Wahid and Ahmed denied possession of the explosive and claimed that it did not belong to them.

The judge, however, observed that the prosecution had proved the case and convicted both the accused accordingly.
