ISLAMABAD: Veteran off-spinner Saeed Ajmal says that he is all ready to bowl once again in the National Twenty20 Championship that started on Tuesday.

Talking to a private news channel, 37-year-old Ajmal said he was looking forward to playing again in the upcoming national domestic season.

“I’m ready to take on the challenge of regaining my place in the Pakistan team. I’m confident of performing well again in domestic cricket and make a comeback for the country and prove my critics wrong,” the veteran of 35 Tests, 113 ODIs and 64 T20 Internationals said.

“It will be great to represent Pakistan again as playing international cricket is the ultimate goal for any cricketer,” he stated, adding he was determined that as a bowler he still had something to offer for Pakistan cricket.

To a question, he said: “My contract with Worcestershire was until Sept 4 as I would be leaving for Hajj the day after I return to Pakistan next week.

“Worcestershire had wanted me to play for them for the whole season but I had decided and agreed with Worcestershire prior to signing the contract that I wouldn’t be able to play the whole season and would return to Pakistan prior to the end of the season,” Ajmal, who has taken 178 Test, 184 ODI and 85 T20 International wickets, explained. — APP
