KARACHI: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) warned all cable television operators on Monday to follow their licence terms and conditions in their operations and reminded them that they were liable to face legal action in case of a violation.

The warning was issued by Pemra’s Sindh Regional General Manager Muhammad Farooq.

According to a press release, legal proceedings in case of non-compliance might entail fine and even cancellation of the licence. “All those cable operators whose licences have expired must renew their licences immediately, otherwise Pemra will legally proceed, which includes confiscation of equipment and imprisonment for a term which may extend to four years,” the official warned.
