LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram will supervise Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) training camp for upcoming talented bowlers at the National Stadium in Karachi from Aug 1 to 13.
The national selection committee, headed by Haroon Rasheed, has announced names of following promising fast bowlers to attend the camp.
Moreover, trials for selection of talented fast bowlers are currently being held at five venues. Those get selected will join the above-mentioned players in the camp.
Young fast bowlers selected from the remote areas for LG–Super Speed Stars will be announced after completion of the first phase.
Selected bowlers: Mir Hamza (Karachi), Ahmed Jamal (Abbottabad), Majid Ali (Multan), Taj Wali (Peshawar), Ammad Butt (Sialkot), Amir Yamin (Multan), Azizullah (Peshawar), Mohammad Irfan (Wapda/Sialkot), Sameen Gul (Fata), M. Altaf Khan (Peshawar), Bilalwal (Lahore) and Zia-ul-Haq (Lahore).

Younis K would be a better option to unearth the next generation of batters.
He's quite selfless and also understands the modern game with its demands on fitness.

i have been the part of such camps many times and elected too once in under thirteen many years ago,but nothing happened...Even i have not seen any player becoming and entering into the national level like the son of former cricker mansoor akhtar named danial,haroon rasheed's nephew anus and others,all were so talented but still no one has been seen.we all were together in academy too.Youngsters must give priority to education.

@Karachi Wally - all at a cost of very hefty fees; stays at 5 star hotels with all expenses paid for Akrams family - sure its called giving it back to the nation

@Dil , any country would like to use his services...but he says no? Why is he not working for any of those countries than. PCB is paying him for the assignment. By paying you can get any one, Holding, Ambrose, Lille you name it. And one more things, all these bowler mentioned above are already playing first class and have shown no international promise. Why waste time on them as they all bowl at 130-135....why not find new faces and try to find some one really fast.

This was a great opportunity for private tv channels to capitalize on Pakistans love affair with cricket and should ve made a tv show similar to american idol or other talent programs, only this would be cricket.
People would ve been glued to the tv screens watching the new talent rise from the ashes, view their personal stories and maybe eventually see their favorites in the Pakistani international team. Oh well.

this means forget about any more fast bowlers coming out of Pakistan. Don't you know Waseem messed up Anwar Ali, don't you know Waseem's past when he did not show up for last game when Pakistan was unbeaten throughout the tournament. As long as people like him and Mr. Sethi are present, Pakistan will continue to suffer.

Are you saying KPK boys are being favoured? I remember the times when there was monopoly of Karachi & Lahore for national team. When Imtan became captain he chose the team on merit. This resulted in some very good players coming out of Frontier province who served the country, and are serving, with distinction.
