Despite earlier speculations that Bin Roye will not make it to India, the film will finally begin showing in cinemas in its major parts on August 7, according to Bollywood Life.

The film, which was set to release on Eid in India alongside Bajrangi Bhaijaan, was postponed due to unknown reasons, said a representative of HUM Films.

Known to be the first Pakistani film to be released in over 10 countries on Eidul Fitr, Bin Roye stars popular actors like Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed and raked in around Rs2.8m in one cinema in Karachi and Islamabad.

Following the announcement of its release in India, Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS) had given the call to ban it from releasing across the state of Maharashtra. However, the group had no issue with film being released in other parts of India.

The film has generally received a positive response from audiences across the globe. Running in New Zealand, Fiji and Singapore this week, the film is holding its cinemas in the UK (No. 12 at the box office), US (No. 32 at the box office), the UAE, South Africa, France, Denmark, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.

In a recent interview with Dawn, the leading lady Mahira Khan said that the film was a result of a lot of hard work: “Bin Roye has been a true labour of love, a testament to how all odds can be defied when you are passionate about something. I signed on to it when my career was at a high and it was frustrating waiting for it to be completed. Eventually, I began reading other scripts and signed on for the drama Sadqay Tumhare. Losing myself to another role was refreshing.”

Bin Roye has been penned by Humsafar writer Farhat Ishtiaq and is directed by Shehzad Kashmiri and Momina Duraid.
