KARACHI: A police officer was shot dead in North Nazimabad on Monday.

Sub-Inspector Ali Imran, 50, was travelling in a car when two gunmen attacked him near Abdullah College. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

“The killing appears to be the outcome of a car snatching bid,” said Karachi-West DIG Feroze Shah. Suspects who had earlier shot dead a bank manager near UP More on his resistance to car snatching bid might be involved in the killing of the sub-inspector, he added.

Ali Imran was posted in South district and had gone to Nazimabad to attend an Iftar party.
