GUJAR KHAN: Police should utilise all its resources to curb robberies and street crime during Ramazan and Eid days.

This was stated by Israr Ahmed Abbasi, the city police officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, during a meeting with a delegation of traders at the Gujar Khan police station on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal, informed the CPO that drug abuse, gambling and prostitution were on the rise in Gujar Khan. The CPO directed the newly-posted SHO Sheikh Qasim and DSP Zaman Raza to launch a crackdown on the anti-social elements without any political pressure. He also directed the police officials to ensure patrolling in the city to provide security to the commuters.

Meanwhile, four armed men looted cash and ammunition from a petrol pump at the G.T. Road, Gujar Khan, on Monday night.

Rashid Mahmood, the proprietor of the filling station, complained to the police that the armed men riding motorbikes reached the filling station at about 12:30am and snatched Rs125,000 from the cashier. They also took away a rifle, a 12-bore shotgun and 250 bullets after snatching them from the security guards.
