BADIN: The FIR registered against two managers of Khoski Sugar Mills and a cane broker in connection with an alleged scam involving Rs700-750 million is to be quashed, the police station concerned said on Monday.

The two managers, Hatim Shar and Amanullah Shar, along with the broker, Ghulam Mustafa Khatti, were booked a couple of days after they were reportedly whisked away by CIA personnel and interrogated over their role in defrauding the local branch of the Sindh Bank and around 200 growers.

The FIR was lodged by another officer of the mill.

Khoski SHO Ghulam Hussain Khoso told Dawn on Monday that a meeting between him and his high-ups, including Badin SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai, was scheduled for Tuesday and it was very likely that the FIR would be quashed.

Hatim Shar also seconded his statement saying that he [Mr Shar] had been assured by senior police officials that the case would be withdrawn.
