ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated the nation, particularly the Pakistan Army, on completion of one year of Operation Zarb-i-Azb against terrorism.

According to a statement issued by the PM House, Mr Sharif said Zarb-i-Azb was the manifestation of Pakistan’s resolve to root out terrorism from the country.

He said the whole nation was thankful to the mothers, sisters and wives who had sacrificed their sons, brothers and spouses to purge the country of terrorism, and prayed for them.

“The nation will remember their sacrifices forever due to which Pakistan was successfully eliminating terrorism and heading towards progress,” he said. The premier said those fighting on the dangerous front were sacrificing their today for a better future of the nation and the whole nation expressed solidarity with them.

Mean­while, Defence Minis­ter Khawaja Asif termed one year of Zarb-i-Azb a year of victory.
