MUZAFFARABAD: A man gunned down three members of a family in the southern Mirpur district on Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mirpur Irfan Saleem told Dawn that schoolteacher Salim Chughtai and his two teenaged nephews Khizar and Owais were killed by one Habib Ahmed in their home in the town of Dadyal.

“The accused entered their home at about 5pm and sprayed them with bullets,” the SSP said, adding that he fled from the scene of the crime and hid in another house in the same neighbourhood, but police got hold of him after an hour.

He said the exact motive of the murder was yet to be ascertained.
