KARACHI: A huge cache of arms and ammunition, mostly Indian-made, was seized and a suspect belonging to a political party was arrested in a raid conducted on an intelligence report in Orangi Town, police claimed on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference, Karachi-West DIG Feroze Shah said the intelligence-driven targeted raid was conducted on a house in Gabol Colony. During search of the house, the police seized a rocket launcher, an anti-aircraft gun, eight LMGs, one SMG, 11 7-MM, two bullet-proof jackets and 12,000 rounds of bullets. “Mostly these weapons were made in India,” said the senior officer.
The police also arrested the suspect, identified as Rehmatullah, who “belon-ged to a political party,” said DIG Shah.
The chief minister announced Rs3 million award for the law enforcers, he said, while terming the seizure and arrest the ‘best example’ of coordination between the police and the intelligence agency under the National Action Plan.
