LAHORE: Member of Parliament in Britain, Yasmin Qureshi, who is of Pakistani origin hailed on Sunday the atmosphere and sporting attitude of Lahorites during the second T20.

The newly-elected British MP who has been here with her ailing mother vowed to launch a campaign with other parliamentarians to convince their government to send England team to Pakistan.

Talking to Dawn during the match, Yasmin said it was extremely pleasing to see sporting environment in Pakistan, adding she only decided to watch the match after observing the fanfare in Lahore.

“Watching match in such a wonderful and friendly atmosphere was a unique and more entertaining experience in Pakistan,” the British MP who was all praise for the supportive crowd maintained.

“The crowed is well-disciplined and very supportive of both the sides,” remarked Yasmin who was also amazed by the crowd giving applause to Zimbabweans for playing fine strokes.

The British parliamentarian said that earlier she believed that only the International Cricket Council was the final authority in deciding the bilateral series but now she had come to know that the two countries could also mutually decide any bilateral series.

Considering this, she said, she had decided to launch a campaign to persuade the British government in connection with sending their team to Pakistan.

She seemed quite satisfied with security arrangements terming it the need of the hour.

Yasmin won her seat from South East Bolton after securing more than 10,000 votes in the recently-held elections.
