HYDERABAD: A condemned prisoner of the Central Jail Hyderabad died of cardiac arrest on Sunday while he was on his way to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Hyderabad from the jail hospital.

Jail Superintendent Ziaur Rehman said prisoner Aas Mohammad Meywasi, 60, son of Rozdar Khan Meywasi, complained of loose motion on Saturday and was admitted to the jail hospital. During ablution for Zuhr prayer on Sunday afternoon, he complained of a chest pain and was immediately referred to the LUH where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The prisoner was serving since 2011 when he was awarded death penalty for murdering his relative. A case (157/2009) was registered under Section 302 with Tando Adam police station. The condemned prisoner was a resident of Tando Adam. The body was handed over to the heirs.
