TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra’s Nishatabad police post constable and a Fesco employee were arrested from the DPO office on the orders of DPO Rana Shahzad Akbar on Saturday.

Reports said that accused constable Muhammad Naveed and Izzat Masoom Baig along with their eight accomplices had on April 21 tried to kill Baig’s wife Rashida Parveen and her cousin, Ijaz Ahmad, in Chak 160-GB, Kaleky, when they were going to Gojra on a bike. Both of them managed to escape and hid themselves in a house.

Later, the 10 accused barged into the houses of Parveen and her cousin Ahmad and tortured the women badly. Parveen was living with her parents after a dispute with her husband, Izzat Baig.

Hameeda Siddiq, the mother of Parveen, submitted an application to police for the registration of a case against the accused. The DPO summoned both the parties and, after an inquiry, ordered the arrest of accused Naveed and Baig and registration of a case against them under sections 353, 452 and 337 of the PPC.

The DPO also suspended constable Muhammad Naveed from service.
