PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Saturday demanded of the federal government to unveil Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share in the recent economic agreements worth $46 billion made with the Chinese government.

Addressing a public gathering at Sherpao Hujra in Charsadda, he said that the province was ignored by the federal government in the past which had created a sense of deprivation among its people. According to a statement issued here, the QWP chief also said on the occasion that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a hub of industrial opportunities and it would bring economic prosperity in the militancy-hit province if the federal government gave its due share in this mega project.

About trade relations with Afghanistan, he said that time was ripe for the revival of economic ties with Afghanistan. He said that both the countries should come forward and brush aside all differences and misunderstandings in order to get durable peace and economic stability in the region. He said that both the countries should focus on strengthening people-to-people contacts, which would help remove mistrust among the business community.

Mr Sherpao said that the provincial metropolis was again witnessing terrorist activities as four incidents of violence, including killing of an official of the counter-terrorism department, were reported during the last week. He criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for the poor law and order situation in the province.

The QWP chief expressed his dissatisfaction over utilisation of development funds and changing of polling stations by the provincial government ahead of local government elections, and termed it pre-poll rigging. He asked the PTI chairman to take notice of the illegal moves by the incumbents. Sikandar Sherpao and other leaders also spoke on this occasion.
