DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unknown assailants shot dead brother of a poll candidate and injured his colleague during election campaign here on Monday.

Gohar Khan, brother of the district council candidate, Dawood Gnadapur, along with other campaigners was engaged in electioneering on Sunday night when unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire on them at Lowni area of Kulachi tehsil. As a result Gohar Khan was killed on the spot while his colleague, Haibat Khan Gandapur, received critical injuries. The injured was shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital, Kulachi.

Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the campaigners came out of the hujra of Mohammad Ayub, unknown armed men attacked them. The other campaigners escaped unhurt.

The attackers managed to escape in the dark of the night. Anwar Khan Gandapur, brother of the deceased, lodged FIR against unknown assailants in Kulachi police station.
