ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that a pre-monsoon week-long rain spell is likely to begin in the country on June 20 and will mainly cover central Punjab and lower Sindh.

In its outlook for May to July, the Met office expects that the monsoon will begin during the first three days of July, and the expected monsoonal system track would be towards upper Punjab and lower Sindh with less to moderate intensity.

According to the seasonal weather outlook, monsoonal current will enter the country during the last week of June and moderate rain is expected during the last week of June.

The Met office says that below average rainfall is expected all over the country during July and summer will be warmer.

There are very limited chances of drought as a whole in the country but areas affected by drought may expect shortage of water during upcoming months. It emphasised the need for giving more attention to water storage in reservoirs in view of below the normal day temperature in northern areas.
