KARACHI: A large number of lawyers on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration on M.A. Jinnah Road to mark the eighth anniversary of the May 12 carnage in Karachi.

More than 45 people were killed and dozens others wounded on May 12, 2007 when the then deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry arrived in Karachi to address a meeting of the Sindh High Court Bar Association on their golden jubilee while the Muttahida Qaumi Movement staged a rally to protest against the politicisation of the judge’s suspension.

The lawyers also staged a sit-in on M.A. Jinnah Road where their leaders including presidents of the SHCBA and the Karachi Bar Association spoke.

They deplored that the authorities were still unable to arrest the culprits behind the May 12 mayhem and demanded their arrest.

Any thoughts on arresting culprits of qasba colony, Aligarh colony, pacca qila massacre and peoples killed, properties burnt, girls rapped innkarachi after benazir death ?

This is just a despicable even which is ignored for so many years. How come so many murderers can go unpunished for so long when the evidence is clear cut and undeniable. It would be a lingering shame.

The lawyers deplore the "authorities" for not arresting the killers ? Since the same authorities are widely believed to have been involved in the massacre how can they be expected to take any action ? Despite repeated directives of the SC the authorities have still not taken any step towards de-politicizing the police force. In the given scenario there is no hope...none at all.

This will never happen. If government and law enforcement agencies could not catch the culprits of the cloth factory massacre with all evidences and witnesses, how will they ever solve anything else!

They should take this case to rangers or the military. Everyone else is either involved or doesnot want to solve it.
