KARACHI: An international media conference titled “One World One Media” to be held in Karachi from May 1 to 3 will be inaugurated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad.

The conference, to be spread over 16 sessions, will be attended by delegates from over 15 countries including the United States, UK, Canada, Belgium, India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

Governor Ishratul Ibad who is the patron-in-chief of the event, said at a press conference at the Governor’s House on Wednesday that issues like media’s role in democracy and in ending conflicts; role of civil society, its uses and abuses in media; embedded journalism, concentration of media ownership; global terrorism and the role of media will be taken up about 16 sessions.

The delegations, he added, would provide an opportunity to dispel the negative perception and project an improved image of Pakistan.

The event is being organised by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist headed by Rana Azim. The governor said prominent poli­­ticians, including PPP Co-Chair­man Asif Zardari, were expected to address the conference.
