LAHORE: Gulshan-i-Iqbal police registered a case on Tuesday against three teachers of a private school for setting an 11-year-old student on fire.

Asif was hospitalised for burn treatment on Monday.

SHO Amjad Husain told Dawn the case was registered on the complaint of Asif’s father Amjad who stated teachers had set his son on fire after he could not get desired marks in the class test.

He said the nominated teachers were Anas, Mona and Insha Begum. Police did not take them into custody as preliminary investigation showed the boy had himself set on fire, he said.
