LAHORE: Former foreign secretary Shamshad Ahmad Khan said international political actors are involved in initiating a war against Yemen through Saudi Arabia and will later allow India to attack Pakistan.

“I think it is a plan made by international political players to first coin a precedence under the cover of allowing a war against Yemen by Saudi Arabia and then permit India to attack Pakistan on the same grounds,” he predicted while speaking at a seminar titled ‘Pakistan’s role in Yemen war’ organised by the Tech Society Club here on Sunday.

He said various internal threats were more dangerous for Saudi Arabia than external ones. He also said the war in Yemen was being fought amongst politicians for personal gains. Unfortunately, they were least interested in protecting and safeguarding their national interest.

Also speaking on the occasion, Senator S.M. Zafar said: “When politicians fail, the army decides.”

He said Pakistan would surely defend Saudi Arabia from internal and external threats, adding that the resolution passed by parliament recently did not prohibit such action.

“It is mentioned in the first sentence that if there was a threat to the safety and security of Saudi Arabia, the Pakistan Army will come forward to defend,” he added.
