Gul to replace Adil as Pakistan hit with another injury

Injury prone fast bowler Umar Gul will get another opportunity to make a comeback to the Pakistan side after rookie paceman Ehsan Adil was ruled out of Pakistan-Bangladesh ODI series with a hamstring injury.
Adil joins World Cup squad members Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Khan and Yasir Shah to the list of casualties which put a dent to a new-look Pakistan's prospects in the Bangladesh series.
According to a Pakistan Cricket Board official, Gul, who last played for Pakistan in December 2014, will fly out to join the ODI squad.

Team manager Naveed Cheema told AFP in Dhaka that Adil's injury had worsened.
“Adil had a minor injury while coming to Bangladesh, we thought he would be fine. Today we examined him again and found that he has aggravated the hamstring injury,” Cheema said.
“The physio is of the opinion that he cannot recover sufficiently in the next seven days, so we are sending him back.”
Bangladesh outplayed Pakistan by 79 runs in the first one-day international in Dhaka on Friday, in only their second win over their rivals in 48 games across all three formats.
The second and third one-dayers will also be held at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on April 19 and 22.

An aging fast bowler worn by injuries. No offence to the services of Umar Gul who has been premiere fast bowler in his prime time which has passed. It guess it would be better to try fresh blood. Btw I still hope he performs well.

It wouldn't help much, they need to bring in Shoaib Malik to replace Saad Nasim. Ideally Fawad, Asad Shafiq and Haris Sohail are not suited to limited overs game. All three of them are cut and flick players with no command on other shots. Look at Haris' score map and you will understand what I mean. Only one of these three, preferably Fawad Alam should be in the team and should bat at no. 4 where he doesn't need to score 10 per over.

it seems pcb hv sworn to never give sadaf hussain a chance regardless of superb la and fc record...and i cnt blv that some ppl are still missing shahjad....i mean which team needs an opener who dont know hw to rotate strike and hv strike rate of 72..even worse than fawad,hafeez,younis...

Gul should have a full time replacement at all times, it is just a matter of days before he gets injured too. Instead of carrying equipment everywhere he should just carry his replacement everywhere.

What about Mohammad Sami, he is in better form. Is he not considered because he is from Karachi. I have indicated repeatedly that one player should not play in all three formats. Inclusion of Hafeez and Saeed Ajmal in the tests also was not necessary.

Umer Gul is a good choice, but where is the match winning strike bowler/batsman Anwar Ali?
We have players that can make a difference, but Waqar seem to have a another agenda -a repeat of World Cup results.

Pakistan team expects to make three changes after the first match. Umar Gul for Rahat Ali, Zulfikar Babar for Saeed Ajmal, Asad Shafiq for Saad Nasim. Cricket experts are shouting for the fifth bowler, where is that fifth bowler unless they again play Saeed Ajmal at the cost of one batsman.
Despite the tall claims by the new selection committee their plan seems to have failed. The selectors should stop taking dictation from the head coach and the PCB chairman

@Shoaib As long as Gul is fully fit. Bowling without his last leap is infective. Gul's last showing was like if he is bolwling stand still. I hope his bowling rhythm is back!!!

The "conditioning" camp only "deconditioned" some of the key players, including Ehsan Adil. Thus, the very purpose of such camps has been rendered ineffective as far the Pakistani cricketers are concerned. Well, if Gul wasn't considered initially, does the management feel confident about having him fill the void? Strange logic! Having said that, Gul had been subjected to unfair handling before and during the WC 2015 in terms of proper care and rehabilitation. Is there a question about his abiliities or his future as the frontline bowler that he can prove, given the proper attention and treatment that he so dearly deserves?
