PESHAWAR: The fifth round of the anti-polio drive under the Sehat Ka Ittehad programme concluded across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

During the three-day drive, over 1.370 million children under the age of five years were administered anti-polio drops, according to a statement issued by the polio emergency operation centre of the provincial health department. This figure makes more than 90 per cent of the total target set for the anti-polio round, the statement added.

It said that 469,130 children were immunised against polio in Peshawar district, 222,705 in Mardan, 120,003 in Charsadda, 108,585 in DI Khan, 68,479 in Bannu, 61,101 in Nowshera, 36,893 in Kohat, 35,614 in Upper Dir, 33,029 in Hangu, 33,048 in Haripur, 14,511 in Abbottabad, 8,816 in Battagram, 17,615 in Lower Dir, 20,745 in Karak, 3,836 in Kohistan, 7,246 in Malakand, 35,861 in Shangla and 73,178 in Tank. The anti-polio drive was put off in Buner, Lakki Marwat, Swabi and Swat districts for some unavoidable circumstances there.
