RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonment boards have formed special teams that will transport ballot papers from Lahore under the security of police and the army.
Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Cantonment Executive Officer Fahim Zafar Khan, who is also the returning officer, told Dawn that both cantonment boards would send their teams on Saturday (today) to collect ballot papers from the Election Commission Punjab.
He said said the law enforcers were asked to ensure security of the teams as well as the ballot papers.
A total of 115 polling stations had been declared sensitive in the garrison city, including 47 in Chaklala Cantonment Board and 68 in Rawalpindi Cantonment Board. In Rawalpindi more than 264,571 voters will use their right to franchise. In Chaklala Cantonment Board, as many as 126,547 voters will elect 10 members.
