LAHORE: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) sought on Wednesday a case against the administration of the Convent Jesus and Mary High School, Durand Road, for allegedly refusing to get their students administered polio drops by the teams.

According to officials, Gulberg Town Deputy District Officer (DDO) of Health Dr Faisal Malik submitted an application to the Racecourse police station for a case against the school principal and the administrator for not getting 60 students of the Urdu medium section vaccinated despite several visits by a CDGL polio team there from April 13 to 15.

School secretary Jafar was not available for comment.

The Gulberg Health DDO said school officials’ behaviour with polio team members was very strange. He said though the school got vaccinated students of English medium section but refused to entertain Urdu medium children. He said the school seemed annoyed with the repeated visits of polio teams to the school.

He said that for the last one year, the CDGL had been holding two polio rounds (one in 150 union councils and two in sensitive union councils,” he added.

The CDGL says it has achieved the polio vaccination target as 1.57 million children were vaccinated in the three-day active drive from April 13 to 15.

Those who refused or were not available at home at the time team visit will be vaccinated during a catch-up day on Thursday (today).

SEALED: A CDGL monitoring team sealed on Wednesday a fake doctor’s clinic at Jorray Pul.

The team also got a case registered against the clinic owner and seized medicines.

Also, several price control magistrates on Wednesday got arrested 32 shopkeepers for overcharging. They also imposed a Rs88,000 fine on several others.

The CDGL has also set up facilitation centres (Sahoolat centres) in 33 markets of the city where people can complain about overcharging, unavailability of ghee, cooking oil and other commodities, according to a spokesman.
