ISLAMABAD: Gunmen robbed the house of late poet Ahmed Faraz here on Tuesday, taking away medals, cash and other valuables.

According to police, three robbers barged into the late poet’s house in G-6/3, locked his widow in a room and held their son Sarmed Faraz and his wife hostage at gunpoint.

They ransacked the house and looted cash, wristwatches, mobile phones, a laptop and gold ornaments. They also took away Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Tamhga-i-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance medals awarded to Ahmed Faraz.

Police said the family informed them of the robbery about 12 hours after the incident. Police collected evidence, including the fingerprints of the alleged robbers. A case was also registered.
