10 injured in roof collapse incidents

RAWALPINDI: As many as 10 people, including a child and a woman, were injured in separate incidents of roof collapse on Friday.

Police said Farzana Babar along with her eight-year-old nephew Yayyab Shafique was returning home from school when the concrete shed of a house collapsed on them at Dhoke Chaudhrian.

Mohammad Shafiq, the father of Tayyab, told Dawn his son was in a stable condition but Farzana was critically injured. In another incident, eight people were injured after the roof of a hotel caved in at Ganjmandi.

More than 15 people were taking meal in the hotel near Sher Dil market when the roof collapsed on them.

The people trapped in the debris were pulled out by rescuers and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where one of them, identified as Yasin Mohammad, was in a critical condition.

The injured were identified as Yasir Mehmood, 28, Zaheer Gul, 30, Nazar Ashraf, 30, Firdoni, 29, Nazir Ahmed Khan, 28, Shahid Sharif, 38, Imtiaz Zaman, 38, and Yaseen Mohammad, 50.
