BOGOTA: Authorities say a truck lost its brakes and smashed into at least four cars along a Colombian highway, killing 10 people and injuring 14 more.
Police Gen Carlos Ramiro Mena says Tuesday night’s crash occurred on the highway linking Bogota with Villavicencio. Daniel Castiblanco is secretary of government for the department of Meta, where Villavicencio is located.
He says the dead include the truck driver, his assistant, at least one minor and a police agent. He says at least half of those injured are in serious condition.
He says the accident forced closure of the highway, which was not reopened until dawn.
