BAHAWALPUR: The Cantonment police on Friday booked 54 students of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) on the charges of demonstrating against the administration, blocking road and chanting slogans against the vice-chancellor.
It is learnt that 45 students were nominated in the FIR lodged against them on behalf of Cantonment police ASI Muhammad Afzal. The nominated students included Junaid Jajja, Chaudhry Tayyab, Ahsan Naroo, Noman, Asad Chaudhry and Aamir Bhutta. No arrest was reported till the filing of this story.
The IUB students had on Thursday allegedly hijacked university buses, parked them at the DIG Chowk and blocked it for vehicular traffic which caused inconvenience to motorists.
The students were demanding fee reduction and agitating against officials and security guards of the university.
