NOWSHERA: Several local leaders and workers of different political parties joined the Awami National Party at its public meeting here on Wednesday.

Prominent among those who joined ANP included former Jamaat-i-Islami chief, Nowshera, and husband of ex-MPA Khwaja Farukh Latif and his supporters; PML-N secretary general, Nowshera Cantt, Prof Latif Niaz; and some activists of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek -i-Insaf.

ANP provincial secretary general Aimal Wali, information secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, district president Juma Khan and former MNA Khalil Abbas were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Wali urged the government to suspend the punishment of death row prisoner Saulat Mirza till he disclosed names of all killers.

He said that hundreds of Pakhtun had been killed in Karachi and now it was time to bring the killers to justice. He demanded that the judicial commission formed on the demand of PTI should start its investigation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as their mandate had been taken from them at gunpoint. He expressed reservations about announcement of constituencies for local government election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that they had already filed a case in Peshawar High Court in this connection.

Mr Aimal alleged that the provincial government had failed to resolve power outages, price hike, etc.

Mr Babak alleged that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had got appointed his blue-eyed people in all government departments.
