GHALANAI/BATKHELA: A government-run primary school was blown up in Yakaghund area of lower Mohmand in wee hours on Wednesday.

Unknown miscreants planted improvised explosive device at the building of the boys primary school in Shal Kor, which went off with a bang. As a result the building was razed.

The political administration and security personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident, cordoned off the area and started search operation. However, no arrest was made till filing of this report.

Meanwhile, in Batkhela, unknown miscreants shot dead a levies personnel in Skhakot locality of Malakand protected area on Wednesday evening.

Noor Zamin of Mehrdee village was fired upon by assailants in Khan Ghari area when he was going home on his motorbike after duty. He died on the spot. His body was brought to THQ hospital, Dargai for autopsy and was later dispatched to his hometown for burial.

Sources said that the deceased was in plainclothes, adding that the assailants riding a car escaped after the attack. The motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.

The area was cordoned off after the incident to trace the attackers. However, no one was arrested till late night.
