KARACHI: Nishtar Club thumped Arambagh Club at the latter’s court while Dow International Medical College (DIMC)-2 upset DIMC-1 in straight semi-finals of four-a-side (half court) basketball tournament on Friday.

Nishtar Club, led by Haroon Khan and comprising Ali Chanzeb, Talha Amjad and M. Shabbar made good use of short passing and scoring to turn the tables on their rivals in convincing fashion. They were home 58-32 and 59-36. The Arambagh quartet of Asad Ali, Zain-ul-Abedin, Adnan Ali and Waqar Abid should curse themselves for not capitalising the chances that came their way.

In the other match, the DIMC-2 struggled to register 46-37 and 34-25 victory over DIMC-1 to sneak into Sunday’s final against Nishtar Club. The winning team that includes Waleed, Ghazi Khan, Adnan Shaikh and Azeem Qazi enjoyed slender lead over their opponents in the two games right from the word go to win straight.

On the other hand, group A leaders DIMC-1 failed to maintain the pace they had displayed in the earlier matches and succumbed to pressure of their second string. Hammad Aftab, Bilal Khan, Umer Cheema and Faisal Masood comprised the losing quartet.
